    Strasbourg, France

Susan’s Travel Blog – Christmas Markets Tour!

    Date: December 9, 10 and 11, 2024

    Weather: Rainy, 48 degrees F°

    Place: Strasbourg, France

Information:  Joyeaux Noel!  Our group has moved onto Strasbourg, France, which has one of the largest and older Christmas markets in Europe.  Our guide shared with us that there are actually 13 markets in the city, with the most famous in the City Center.  It is the prefecture and largest city of the Grand Est region of eastern France, at the border with Germany in the historic region of Alsace. It is the prefecture of the Bas-Rhin department and the official seat of the European Parliament.

The city has about three hundred thousand inhabitants, and together Greater Strasbourg and the Arrondissement of Strasbourg have over five hundred thousand.[9] Strasbourg's metropolitan area had a population of 860,744 in 2020,[4] making it the eighth-largest metro area in France and home to 14% of the Grand Est region's inhabitants.

Strasbourg, as you can see in the attached pics, is all dressed up to celebrate the holiday season.

The Strasbourg Christmas market is one of the largest and oldest in Europe. There is great food, the traditional mulled wine and lots of people! Still very cold but enjoying it! Here are some pics!
